Religious Bigotry

We all know it happens. It's a sinful world we live in and despite our best efforts represent Christ sometimes the actions of others can bring that hard work crashing down.

And then there are times when we're on the receiving end of such things. Christians, too, take a lot of heat from other religions (and even non-religions) for either what we believe or how we practice.

I decided to do a random google search today for "Christian Otherkin" to see what I came up with, and one thread on a site called The Otherkin Community caught my eye.
The original poster made a comment about how the boards seemed to display a subtle note of hostility towards Christianity, so he posted a few links and examples of where Christians and Christian organizations were doing good, in hopes that it would be an olive branch to the community essentially saying "see, we're not so bad". And immediately a few people (it's a small board I guess) come in with great hostility towards Christianity and pick a fight.

I'm still in the process of reading the whole thread but thus far I'm appalled by what I'm seeing. The original poster (as far as I've read) has done a very good job keeping himself civil, and level headed despite the other members' obvious attacks on him and the faith. He's been raising some very good points too, about how while yes some Christians and affiliated groups may dish out hate, ignorance and general not goodness, Christianity takes its fair share of it too.


I thought maybe this might be a good place to discuss the strife and problems that Christianity gives and/or gets, and maybe share examples of bigotry going either way, that made your jaw drop, or your blood boil.

Christianity itself is a contriversial religion throughout this world, it seems.
The people go against each other, and many it seems are not the true believers in Christ we would think of. Atleast, their actions discuss otherwise.

If they want to bash and not believe, then I guess if they won't even see our side...or God's side..then their life will be that much worse.

I agree with Ssyjin. Many people use the title Christianity to get away with whatever, but they are not real Christians. I use the Salim Witch Trials as an example. The people knew they were not doing right; they just wanted someone to pick on. No better than Nazis.

But then non Christians try to excuse their behavior by using those examples, which are not really Christian. It's quite pathetic.

EDIT: Since I don't have an account on that website and don't plan to get one, I will rant here:

"And many of the laws are arbitrary: can't wear mixed fabrics. can't eat fatty part of meat."

These were practical laws to keep people safe. If you mix fabrics, they do not last nearly as long. The fatty part of meat is bad for you. People could not drink blood because it carried many diseases. Shall I go on?

Exactly. It's people who wear the label that give the real Christ followers a bad image, and there are so so many of them it feels a little hopeless sometimes. =/

Yeah, I noticed that too. They're practical laws meant to keep the Jewish people live and healthy (more or less) during their 40 years in the desert, and a lot of them just carried over because it's just practical.
Hehe, I would make an account but then I'd have another forum site to semi-manage and that wouldn't be good. I might look and see if he has another form of contact on his profile though, maybe we can get in touch with him that way. :3
